Bamboos can be used for privacy screens, architectural features or texture changes in the landscape.
Not all bamboos are aggressive. The clumping varieties are much easier to control than the running varieties. Also the newer root control panels are very helpful.
Here is variety that is becoming more popular-
Bambusa textilis gracilis (Slender Weaver’s Bamboo, Graceful Bamboo)
Handsome enough to stand alone, it also makes an excellent hedge or privacy screen. A tight clumper with very erect and tidy growth. Perfect for landscaping in a smaller garden.
