Our Landscape Photos and Ideas

Neighborhood Nursery provides Landscape and Design all across the United States, but specializes in low maintenance, low water use plantings in Southern California.

Morgan Ranch Project
Enjoy as the water from the top of the stream makes its way into the crystal clear pond. This is just one of the beautiful waterfalls we have built. We used natural stone, some over 6000 lbs apiece. The pond is 4 feet deep and you can see a dime on the bottom all year long. We build our own biological filters that prevent algae bloom.
The pond is built to deter herons and raccoons, but diving birds have been a problem. The homeowner effectively strung white cord across the pond so the birds do not attempt to catch the fish.
The pond is stocked with small koi and goldfish and is made of EPDM liner under the natural stone.

Cumberland Project
Watch the plants mature before your very eyes. Before and after pictures as well as pics of the plants months after installation. We supplied all the materials as well as the design and installation of this beautiful front yard. Colorful, but low water use plants, micro spray irrigation, MP Rotator lawn heads, everything that could be done to save water and have an incredibly low maintenance yard.

Note how we use ground covers extensively in the foreground with larger plants to the rear, giving visual depth to the yard.

Hermosa Project
Here is a great project where we did the design and hardscape. The hardscape masonry including the installation of the retaining walls, patio, stepping stones and stairs. We also supplied the materials and installed the lawn and low water use plantings. Low volume micro spray irrigation is used extensively.

We used vibrant colors against bright white walls. All of the plant materials are Mediterranean or desert climates.

Stoner Drive

This is a really fun project that started with modifying a common rear patio that was just a rectangle built against the back wall and removal of large tree stumps that were causing damage to the property. The patio was partitioned into three areas. BBQ outside the kitchen, dining area and fire pit seating area. The pondless waterfall is the focal point of this yard.

The front removed all lawn that was replaced with low maintenance shrubs and ground covers.

 Claudia Japanese Style Garden

Minimize lawn, less maintenance, tranquility- this is everything you notice when sitting in this rear yard.

Our client is an important part of keeping this garden neat. “Working in my garden gives me peace” is something he has told us many times.

Apperson Patio Cover

This may seem like a common patio cover, but it is so much more. The structure is built above the roof line to give airiness to the patio. An old deck and concrete walkway were removed and replaced with the Mexican saltillo pavers. It is now a very comfortable dining area and allows the family to enjoy the rear yard out of the hot sun.
